My daughter joined Hackney Children’s Choir in Year 3. She had always enjoyed singing, but had had little formal music tuition. HCC has been a fantastic experience for her. Tom is ambitious for the children and HCC has offered the opportunity to learn some challenging music in a friendly setting – making friends with other kids from schools across the borough along the way. The highlight has been the chance to perform at some incredible venues – including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall.

My child has benefitted hugely from being part of the choir. She has gained confidence in her singing and musicality but in particular has loved being part of a team performing in some really special places under the fantastic tutelage of Tom Daggett.’

My daughter takes real pride in being part of Hackney Children’s Choir and looks forward to rehearsals on Tuesdays with great enthusiasm. From listening to her singing around the house, it is clear what a positive impact it has had on her musicality and vocal technique

My son has benefited hugely from singing in the HCC. After less than a year, he has learned to sing tunefully and expressively, and to respond to direction. His musicianship has improved no end which benefits his brass lessons. Singing has been a positive way for my son to mix with children of ages, ethnic and religious backgrounds different to his own, and his confidence has increased as a result. It’s important for me that he feels integrated in his community, and HCC plays an important part in this.
