Tom Daggett (Director and Founder)
Tom Daggett is an organist, conductor, and educator who holds the OBE Organ Outreach Fellowship at St Paul’s Cathedral, where he leads a music programme for thousands of London children. Tom is motivated by music’s transformative ability to bring people together, and has founded five children’s choirs, principally in inner-city areas. He founded the Hackney Children’s Choir in 2014 and has a deep vocation to share his experience of music with people of all backgrounds. Tom held Organ Scholarships at Blackburn Cathedral and Lincoln College, Oxford, from which he is a prize-winning graduate in Music.
The Reverend Niall Weir (Choir Co-founder)
Niall Weir has been Rector of West Hackney since 2003 and has worked in various parishes across London since his ordination in 1983. He is a published song-writer and sings professionally with the choir of St Paul’s Cathedral. He is a trustee of the Rodolfus Foundation which seeks to make bursary payments to musically gifted yet underprivileged children to enable them to participate in the elite Junior and Eton Choral Courses. He is co-founder of Hackney Children’s Choir, with a passion to enable local and musically gifted children to experience the joys and disciplines of the English Choral Tradition.
Ginny Strawson (Accompanist)
Ginny has been working for Hackney Music Service for many years, teaching violin and piano to children of all ages and abilities. She also coaches ensembles and as an accompanist has given recitals and played for competitions. Ginny also plays violin with the Apollo Chamber Orchestra and the English Sinfonia. She is particularly interested in giving ensemble and performance opportunities to young people.
Naomi Faulkner (Choir Matron)
Naomi Faulkner lives in Stoke Newington and is a Pastoral Assistant at St Paul’s Church. Naomi has acted as ‘matron’ to Hackney Children’s Choir since its inception and attends all rehearsals, providing snacks and being attentive to the needs of the children involved.
